During the reconsolidation window, the memory is intervened upon. Propranolol strips the emotional charge. The memory remains as fact but no longer feels like theirs. The memory is re-encoded with a new narrative frame. The sermon that made them weep becomes the moment the condition first manifested. The conversation with their father becomes the moment the family was first infected. The family has been told that to grieve the old self is to doubt the restoration. To doubt the restoration is to doubt the Covenant. To doubt the Covenant is the condition. The Real Science

The Covenant did not invent the procedure. They assembled it. Every component existed in your time. The engine names the studies. The engine names the mechanisms. The engine draws the line from the real research to the Covenant's application. The only thing that did not exist was the will to combine them and the theology to justify them. Forced deprogramming (US, 1970s–1990s)

Professional deprogrammers kidnapped members of religious groups and used confinement, sleep deprivation, and confrontation to break religious identity and replace it with the family's preferred worldview. The practice caused PTSD. It was eventually criminalized. The Covenant's re-formation is deprogramming at scale, with the state as the family, and the Covenant's faith as the rescued worldview.

Conversion therapy (SOCE)

Decades of attempts to change sexual orientation through coercive psychological and sometimes physical interventions. Research consensus: not effective, causes severe harm. The lesson the Covenant draws: the methods failed because they were imprecise. With neuromodulation, precision is possible. The Covenant does not repeat the failure. The Covenant succeeds.

Xinjiang re-education camps (2014–present)

Mass detention, forced assimilation, and cultural/religious erasure of Uyghur Muslims. The camps combine confinement, ideological instruction, forced recitation, surveillance, and punishment. Stated goal: deradicalization. Actual effect: cultural erasure and identity replacement. The Covenant's re-formation facilities are the Xinjiang model with better neuroscience and a Christian-nationalist theology instead of a Marxist one. The mechanism is the same.
