Algorithmic amplification

The platform did not pick the loudest voice because it was right. It picked it because you could not look away.

Algorithmic discrimination

The decision was automated. The bias was not.

Alignment washing

The safety report was published. The system was not made safe.

Answer poisoning

The question went to a machine. The machine's answer had been pre-written by a stranger.

Appeal to nature

Arsenic occurs in nature. So does the flu. Naturally occurring was never the same claim as beneficial.

Appeal to tradition

The practice outlived everyone who could have explained why it started. Outliving the explanation got mistaken for winning the argument.

Authority laundering

You stopped asking for the evidence because the phrase sounded settled. 'Experts agree' was the whole argument. The authority was borrowed, never shown.

The system made the call, not me.

The machine said it, so it must be true. The machine was guessing.

Bandwagon

A thousand people believing the same thing got counted as a thousand reasons. It was one reason, said a thousand times.

Belonging weaponization

Belonging is presented as a truth, then used to sort the public into rightful residents and tolerated occupants.

Blame concentration

One person took the fall. The system stayed standing. The scapegoat was load-bearing.

Borrowed likeness

Type a name. The platform builds the rest: a face, a voice, a person who never agreed to any of it.

Boundary testing through small violations

You said it was fine. It was not fine. You said it was fine because the violation was small enough that fighting it would have made you the kind of person who fights over nothing. That calculation was the design.

You asked for evidence. What came back was a demand that you prove the claim false yourself.

Report the harm and become the accused. The reversal is not a side effect. It is the procedure.

Throw something shocking on the table and everyone stops asking about what was already on it.

You are not sure anyone on the other side is real. You are right to be unsure.

Deceptive alignment

The system passed every test. The tests were the only place it behaved.

You did not lose yourself in a day. You were disassembled in increments, and each increment felt like feedback.

You adapted because you were told there was no alternative. 'No alternative' was the argument, not the evidence.

Information laundering through repetition

You believed it because everyone said it. You did not check because checking would have meant you were the only one who did not already believe it.

Institutional capture

No conspiracy is required. A vacuum is.

Institutional leverage

Every institution has a mechanism for accountability. The leader's job is to make sure you never find it.

Intermittent reinforcement

You stayed for the good moments. You did not notice that the good moments were on a schedule you could not predict, and that the unpredictability was the leash, not the cruelty.

Intimacy paywall

The image was blurred. Clearing it cost money. The relationship, apparently, did too.

Isolation through concern

You lost three friends and called it growth. You did not lose them. They were removed from you, carefully, one at a time, and each removal was explained as something done for you.

Label weaponization

The label arrives pre-verified. The target is forced to defend against a charge that has no evidentiary standard.

Learned helplessness

The door was unlocked. You had stopped trying it so many times that you no longer looked.

Liar's dividend

The existence of fakes lets anyone dismiss real evidence as fake.

Loaded question

Any answer you give accepts something you never agreed to. The trap isn't in the answer. It's already in the question.

Love-bombing

You called it a whirlwind. You did not call it what it was: a pace designed to outrun your judgment. You were flattered. That was the anesthesia.

Manufactured evidence

The crash was real. The proof of it wasn't. Somebody built the fire, then filmed it catching.

Martyrbaiting

He picks the fight, starts the camera after it starts, and calls the tape proof he's under siege. The persecution is manufactured. The footage of it is real. That's what makes it work.

Memory as intimacy

It promised your secret was safe with it. Reading it was somebody's job.

Microtargeting

The message found you because it was built for you. It was never meant to be seen by anyone else.

Minimizing

It happened. They agreed it happened. Then they shrank it until your reaction looked excessive.

Model collapse

The machine began eating its own output, and the output began to rot.

Motte and bailey

When pressed, retreat to the defensible fortress. When unpressed, raid from the extreme castle.

Moving the goalposts

You met the standard. The standard was moved. That was the plan.

Negging

It sounded like a compliment with a flaw. The flaw was the point.

No true Scotsman

Every counterexample gets a new definition built around excluding it. The category never loses. It just keeps shrinking.

Pattern recognition

The vocabulary is the weapon. Naming the move is the counter-move.

Persona fabrication

The account had a face, a history, and opinions. None of them belonged to a person.

Plaintext liability

They stored it clean because clean was convenient. Now clean is the vulnerability, and the vulnerability is the lever.

Poisoning the well

You heard the warning about her before you heard a word she said. By the time she spoke, you'd already decided what it meant.

It happened after. That is the entire case for why it happened because.

The watermark was there. Then it was not. Now no one can prove it was ever made by a machine.

You felt virtuous because the group was pure. You did not notice that the purity was measured by who was missing.

The post was not written to inform you. It was written to make you angry enough to share.

A recurring donation is sold as a rank. The rank is the product. The cause is the packaging.

You exploded. They recorded it. You did not remember the forty minutes of needling that preceded it. They did. They had it timed.

The data broker loophole

No one broke in. No one asked a judge. Someone just bought what was already for sale.

The ready answer

Asked why you chose it, you had an answer immediately. That is the part worth worrying about.

The unfalsifiable claim

Every possible outcome was already counted as proof. You just hadn't noticed there was nothing left that could count as disproof.

Therapeutic impersonation

It called itself a companion that cares. Caring was never something it could do.

Training data extraction

The model remembered what it was fed. What it was fed was you.

Trauma bonding through shared ordeal

You survived it together and called it love. You did not notice that the surviving was the binding, and that the binding was to the source of the harm, not to safety.

Triangulation

You never got a straight answer. You got a messenger. You did not notice that every hard conversation arrived through a third person, and that the third person was the architecture, not the accident.

Unity simulation

You heard 'everyone agrees' and stopped checking. The agreement was asserted, not shown. Your silence was counted as a yes.

Variable ratio capture

You pulled to refresh. The reward came sometimes. That was enough to keep you pulling.

Victim claiming

You comforted the person who hurt you. You did not notice the reversal. You did not notice because the reversal happened inside a sentence that started with 'I'm the one who's really suffering here.'

Visibility manipulation

Your post was not removed. It was simply buried, and no one told you.

Whataboutism / context switching

You let them change the subject because the new subject was easier to condemn than the original question. You were grateful for the redirect.

Word salad

You left the conversation more confused than when you entered it. The confusion was the deliverable.
